[REEL] Concern Grows in Taiwan as Iran War Causes Oil Price Surge

Global oil prices have surged past US$100 per barrel as the war in Iran continues to escalate. About one-third of Taiwan’s liquefied natural gas comes from Qatar. But as the country halts production, concern is growing over a potential energy crunch in Taiwan.



The Taiwanese government has moved to reassure the public, saying there will be no natural gas shortage before April. They also say they will work together with state-owned energy supplier CPC to keep prices stable.
